Klabor, or Debertz, is a board card game popular in Indiana, USA. It requires a deck of 32 cards, from 7 to Ace. Usually the playing process takes 25 minutes. Deberts develops the skills of memory and tactics.
History of the game deberts
There is no exact place of origin.
At first, it was believed that the debertz was played by Sakhalin convicts at the beginning of the 20th century. Some experts believe that klabor comes from the European Clabergas. Others think it was invented by African-American slaves on the banks of the Ohio River. In 1896, the local Evansville newspaper referred to this game as the "Negro card game."
In an article in an Evansville newspaper, versions were put forward that the game was invented as early as 1881, and perhaps even in 1871. Then the date of its appearance was finally determined - the 70s of the 19th century. 60 years later, the game became popular among Jewish communities.
In 1931, Walter Schlang became president of the Evansville Clabber Club. The first written rules were drawn up by the club's secretary, Leo Bruttrum, in 1935. Until that time, drawing was done according to different rules.
During World War II, American factories challenged each other. Then there were tournaments on deberts. The first champion was Albert D. McKay. So far, the strongest players are considered to be the workers Ron and Carolyn Ruminer.
Today, this game is not very popular, but together with blackjack and frap, it is very popular among professional card players.
Rules of the game
2 to 4 players play. If there are four players, the game can be played "in pairs".
At the beginning, the one who will mix is determined by lot. To eliminate the possibility of a "shuffle", he should let the person on his right cut the cards. If this condition is not met, the partying player will be fined 100 points.
Cards are dealt in a circle, two pieces each. *** After, depending on the number of people, purchase cards are distributed. If less than four are played - 3 pieces, if more - 2. As a result, players should have 8-9 cards.
The trump card is determined randomly during the shuffle. The milling card is then placed on the table for all to see. To play with four trumps, you need to remember.
If a player gets 4 sevens on a deal, he can request a redeal. In the case of 1 trump seven, you can ask to change it to an open cutter on the table. If the player has 13 or 2 points or less at the beginning, there is an opportunity to deal cards. All this must be done before announcing the combinations.
Combinations
There are three types of combinations (in ascending order of price):
- Third - 3 cards of the same suit in a row
- Bertz - 4 cards of the same suit in a row
- Bela - trump queen and king
The seniority of the combinations is determined according to the order of the cards, from 7 to ace. A milling cutter or burr is more expensive.
Bella is considered the highest hand with which you can almost guarantee to beat the hand.
There are also meldas for which you can also get points:
- 4 Jacks – 200 points
- 4 other cards - 100 points
If one of the players has a combination, a trade is announced. The one with the highest combination wins. The winner gets points based on the price of the cards. And the one who entered and lost the auction is forced to pay a specified fine.
Goal
The winner is the one who scores 500 or more points. In case of a tie, a new game is played to determine the winner.
The price of cards
The price in points depends on trump strength. As a rule, a milling card is more expensive
